Capitol Records released The Band’s second box set, “A Musical History,” on September 27, 2005. It features 111 tracks spread over five compact discs and one DVD and spans the group’s history from 1961 to 1977. It includes tracks from their days backing Ronnie Hawkins and Bob Dylan through the break-up of the group’s first iteration following The Last Waltz. The set includes nearly 40 rare or previously unreleased performances.
