During the pandemic, I realized my approach to travel changed. Whereas before COVID-19 pretty much put a damper on fun, I tried to cram in as many museums as possible. Now, I like to book some time to walk through town.

The Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 is one of the worst natural disasters in the country’s history. In Islamorada, just east of U.S. 1 at mile marker 82, the Florida Works Progress Administration (WPA) built a monument to the disaster.
