I’m Leaving at the End of the Day

My eyes caught the clock: 8 p.m. That makes it 9 a.m. Tokyo time. That means I’m leaving at the end of the day — Japan time.

I think the excitement took hold this afternoon when I picked up my Japan Rail Pass. There was something about this that signaled the trip was for real and the trip was fast approaching.

My friends and I have had a lot of back and forth discussions about what we’re planning to do and see during our Japan trip. I’m still not sure what we’ve settled on, but it’ll nonetheless be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Another friend of mine told me to keep my eyes open and see everything there is to see. That’s good advice. When you think about it, it doesn’t really matter whether there is some detailed itinerary. My friend who lives in Tokyo has promised me a good time, and I believe he will deliver.

My camera is packed and ready to go. I’m ready to start taking in the sights and sounds of Tokyo.

Now, if I could just do something about that 14-hour flight…
