1804 Election

The 1804 presidential election in the United States was the fifth quadrennial election. It was held from Nov. 2 to Dec. 5. Thomas Jefferson, the incumbent Democratic-Republican president, won against Federalist candidate Charles Cotesworth Pinckney from South Carolina. This was the first election conducted following the ratification of the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which reformed procedures for electing presidents and vice presidents.
