Americans do not trust several major U.S. institutions, particularly the national news media.

There is an argument to be made about how elected officials treat the media. But, publications would be well-served to pay closer attention and take action in their backyards, not just when it is politically expedient nationally.

Reporting by it’s very nature is responsive. But it’s not reporting on what people want — that’s PR as the age-old saying goes — it’s about uncovering what people don’t want uncovered.
