UPDATE: Talmadge Bridge to remain open; Closures for Sidney Lanier, Houlihan Bridges remain in place

SAVANNAH, Georgia – Due to current weather conditions and the forecasted path of Hurricane Ian, the Talmadge Bridge will remain open to traffic this morning.

For the safety of the traveling public, Georgia DOT will move forward with the closure of the Sidney Lanier Bridge on US 17 over the Brunswick River to all vehicular traffic at 9:00 am today, and the Houlihan Bridge will remain closed to maritime traffic, but will remain open to vehicular traffic.

Georgia DOT will continue to monitor conditions in the Savannah area and will provide any updates as needed.

An extensive inspection of the Sidney Lanier Bridge must be performed after Hurricane Ian passes therefore the closure will remain in place until further notice.

Motorists who must travel should allow themselves extra time to reroute due to bridge closure; remain patient; and exercise caution in their travels.
