ATLANTA — Patrons are flocking to an Atlanta institution following reports it is closing its doors.
Alfredo’s Italian Restaurant, regarded by some as the best restaurant in the city, is closing its doors this year. According to published reports, the restaurant’s lease will not be renewed because the property was sold to make way for new apartments.
The restaurant opened in 1974. Current owner Perry Alvarez became a partner in 1977 and bought out his partners in the 1980s, reports indicate.
According to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page, Alfredo’s is looking to relocate.
“Many have been asking and it is true that we will have to move sometime in the first or second quarter of 2016. We do not have a specific date,” the post reads. “We are looking to relocate and will update our status when we have new information to share.”
The restaurant added: “Thank you for your patronage.”
