Republicans vying for 11th Congressional District seat face off in Atlanta Press Club debate

ATLANTA — Candidates vying for the Republican nomination for the 11th Congressional District will have the opportunity to face off Sunday during the Atlanta Press Club’s Loudermilk-Young Debate Series.

Incumbent Phil Gingrey, William Llop, and Michael S. Opitz are invited to appear at the debate, which will air statewide Sunday at 4:30 p.m. on Georgia Public Broadcasting and at 7 p.m. on GPB Radio. The winner of the July 31 primary will face Democrat Patrick Thompson in the Nov. 8 general election.

Scheduled panelists for the debate are Jim Burress, WABE Radio; Jon Gillooly, Marietta Daily Journal; and Ninette Sosa, All News 106.7 Radio. Afterward, the debate will be archived on the Atlanta Press Club’s website.

Other debates airing Sunday are 7th Congressional District (Republican), 4th Congressional District (Democrat and Republican), 9th Congressional District (Republican) and 5th Congressional District (Democrat).
