Many Florida state parks open on Thanksgiving

Most of Florida’s 171 state parks will be open on Thanksgiving Day.

“This holiday, we hope you take time to enjoy our state parks and trails,” Florida Park Service Director Donald Forgione said in a news release. “State parks can be a great way to compliment your day. Bring visitors and family members to hike, bike or swim while enjoying the beautiful Florida scenery.”

Florida has 171 state parks and trails that offer a variety of activities including camping, biking, swimming, hiking and fishing. Many parks are hosting special events this holiday season and host many events throughout the year ranging from kayak tours to war re-enactments.
