A venerable Metro Atlanta barbeque joint has shuttered its doors, according to a published report.
The Old Hickory House in Dunwoody, Ga., closed its doors this week, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. A sister restaurant in Tucker, Ga., will remain open, the newspaper reported.
The restaurant — known by its tagline “Put some South in your mouth” — was apparently a favorite of President Jimmy Carter while he was in the White House.
“When Jimmy Carter was President of the United States, Old Hickory House BBQ and Brunswick Stew were flown to Washington, D.C and prepared in the White House for the President, Rosalyn and their guests,” according to a Dunwoody CVB webpage.
