ATLANTA — The Atlanta Press Club is set to induct the inaugural class of journalists into its newly established Hall of Fame.
The slate of well-respected journalists set to be inducted during a ceremony this evening are:
— Henry Grady (1850-1889): The famed editor of the Atlanta Constitution
— Furman Bisher: A well-respected sportswriter and columnist whose career dates to 1938; he joined the Atlanta Constitution in 1950
— Tom Johnson: The former president of CNN during the 1990s and the former publisher of the Los Angeles Times
— John Pruitt: The former, long-time anchor of WSB-TV and WXIA-TV; he retired at the end of last year
— Alexis Scott and the Scott Family: Publishers of the Atlanta Daily World, a pioneer African-American newspaper started in 1928
— Ted Turner: The “media titan” best remembered for founding CNN and Turner Broadcasting Co. and owning the Atlanta Braves
