Atlanta Press Club Hosting Fulton County Commission Chair Debate

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Press Club is hosting a debate between the two candidates vying for Fulton County Commission Chair.

The debate between Steve Broadbent, a Republican, and incumbent John Eaves, a Democrat, will be filmed from 4-4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, at the Public Broadcasting Atlanta (PBA) studio, located at 740 Bismark Rd. NE in Atlanta. The debate will air on PBA at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31. Press Club members, journalists, college students and supporters are invited to be part of the live audience.

“Part of the Press Club’s mission is fostering journalistic excellence, and staging debates for candidates seeking public office is an integral part of that mission,” Lauri Strauss, the Press Club’s executive director, said in a news release. “With Fulton County lying at the heart of metro Atlanta, this debate is a great opportunity for voters to learn more about the two candidates seeking to lead the state’s most populous county.”

Panelists for the debate are Matt Hennie of Project Q; Maggie Lee, a freelance journalist; and Jean Ross of WAOK and V-103. Charles Edwards of WABE Radio will serve as the debate’s moderator.

The debate will be archived on www.pba.org and www.atlantapressclub.org.

As part of its 2010 general election debate series, the Atlanta Press Club also organized 14 debates featuring candidates running for state and federal offices.
