A new poll suggests this year’s gubernatorial race in Georgia may go to a runoff. But don’t think it’s because there’s a tight race between Gov. Sonny Perdue and Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor.
No, voters have Libertarian Garrett Michael Hayes to thank or blame for the possibility of a runoff.
According to a Morris News Service report, “The latest Insider Advantage survey of 500 likely voters contacted by phone Sunday through Tuesday gives Republican Sonny Perdue 49 percent to Democrat Mark Taylor’s 39 percent and Libertarian Garrett Michael Hayes’ 6 percent. Six percent of those questioned haven’t made up their minds, and the survey has a margin of error of 4 percent.”
As a casual political observer, I have to wonder, “What does it all mean?” Are voters so upset with the current state of politics they plan to vote for the Libertarian candidate rather than the Republican or Democratic candidates?
