Smyrna signs off on $113 million fiscal 2026 budget

SMYRNA, Georgia — The Smyrna City Council signed off on a $113 million fiscal 2026 budget this week without any discussion.

The measure passed 4-0. Mayor Derek Norton did not attend the meeting.

“The City remains in a positive financial condition as it enters FY 2026. Fiscal responsibility has been a priority for elected officials and administrative staff alike, which has allowed the City to weather past revenue instability while continuing to make great strides to improve the City of Smyrna,” Deputy City Administrator/CFO Kristin Robinson said in a memo to the mayor and council. “This stewardship of taxpayer money has allowed the City to adapt to needs that arise each fiscal year, along with providing flexibility for frequent economic changes.

“Revenues and expenditures are monitored constantly to determine what changes, if any, need to be made,” Robinson added. “This budget has been developed using all available information, data, and insight, always aware we must prepare for new challenges and opportunities. The following pages provide a few highlights of the detailed information found elsewhere in this Budget Book.”
