The Georgia Senate Economic Development and Tourism Committee has advanced a measure intended to roll back regulations in the state and make it more business-friendly.

Committee members voted 7-4 to advance Senate Bill 28, the Red Tape Rollback Act of 2025.

“The Peach State is about to blaze a trail for other states by being among the first states this year to harness the enthusiasm of government efficiency and regulatory reform into meaningful policy,” Americans for Prosperity-Georgia State Director Tony West said in a statement.

“It’s one thing to talk about cutting red tape and making the government more efficient—it’s another to summon the political will to pass serious legislation that restores legislative oversight, invites transparency into the regulatory process, and finds real savings for taxpayers and job-creators,” West added. “AFP-GA is excited to join bold regulatory policy champions in building full-throated support for this bill and showing the rest of the country how it’s done.”
