Smyrna approves request to allow Reformation Brewery to sell wine

SMYRNA, Georgia — Smyrna council members approved a license for Reformation Brewery to sell wine.

Reformation, established in October 2013, opened its Smyrna location in January 2020 at The Eddy at Riverview Landing, along the Chattahoochee River.

“We’re a small Georgia independent craft brewery,” Reformation CEO and Cofounder Spencer Nix said during a Monday city council meeting. “We’ve been in existence now for 12 years. Fortunately, we’ve experienced a little bit of growth last year. Our industry nationwide and in the state of Georgia is a little bit in decline, which is part of the request here is to help us diversify our portfolio.”

Nix told the council that “the reason we didn’t get this initially is state law. State law has changed to allow this use for craft breweries.”

Reformation opened its downtown Woodstock location in 2018. The research and development brewhouse includes two beer bars, a large deck and an outdoor beer garden.
