BREAKING: Smyrna, Georgia, police involved in shooting, suspect at large

Smyrna, Georgia — The Smyrna Police Department is actively searching for a suspect following an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning near Spring Road.

Police responded to a holdup alarm at a business in the 2600 block of Spring Road around 9:28 a.m. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male suspect, leading to gunfire.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, prompting a large-scale search involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Authorities are urging residents to avoid the area of Spring Road and Cumberland Boulevard due to ongoing police activity and road closures.

“If you observe anything suspicious, please call 911 immediately,” the department advised in a public statement.
