The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center in Clarksville, Tennessee, received gold, silver and bronze awards at the 2024 Southeastern Museum Conference.
The awards were announced on Oct. 23 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Clarksville Online reported.
The event recognizes the exceptional use of technology, outstanding exhibitions, and creative publications. The awards celebrate innovation, effective design, accessibility, creativity, and the representation of institutional identity.
The Customs House Museum was the technology showcase winner, winning gold awards in the digital marketing category for the “Blog series” written by Meghan Gattignolo, in gallery installation digital sign for “Champagne and Chocolate,” and in media production for the video, A Monday Moment with Art: The Porter Children.
The museum also won a silver award for the “Flying High” digital sign in the gallery installation category. The museum won a bronze for the “Museum at 40” digital sign.
Its “Museum at 40” videos picked up a bronze award, completing a sweep in the gallery installation category.
The Customs House Museum also picked up honors in the publications categories. It won gold in the poster category for the “2024 Juneteenth Poster,” a bronze for Second & Commerce in magazines and for “Flying High 39 Campaign” for the campaign category.
“We serve Clarksville-Montgomery County as well as a broader regional area and we are committed to the people that live, work and visit here,” The Leaf-Chronicle newspaper quoted Executive Director Frank Lott as saying.
“We always strive to improve the Museum experience for all our constituents through new programs, innovative events and enhanced visitor experience,” Lott added. “One way we measure our success is to see how we compare to even larger museums throughout our region. This year, we received more individual awards than any museums represented at the conference.”
