Two killed in tire explosion at Delta Air Lines maintenance area

ATLANTA — At least two people were killed and a third seriously injured after a tire exploded in a Delta Air Lines maintenance area at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport early this morning.

“As the Chair of the City of Atlanta Transportation Committee, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the workers who lost their lives today while striving to ensure the safety of passengers traveling through our beloved Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,” District 3 Atlanta City Council member Byron Amos said in a statement. “To those who were hurt, we stand with you to offer prayers for a speedy recovery.”
