BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Forty-nine years ago, Jimmy Hoffa disappeared, setting off one of the most intriguing mysteries of the last half-century. He was last seen at a Detroit-area restaurant.
Tonight, there’s nowhere I’d rather be than Andiamo in Bloomfield Township in Michigan. It’s a local chain of Italian restaurants in Michigan.
The Bloomfield location looks similar based on old photos. While it was the Machus Red Fox restaurant at the time, the building is a newer Italian restaurant. Newer, but it’s still been here for three decades. Years pass, and our collective memories fade.
It’s amazing and surreal to walk in the footsteps of history. Events happen, and the world moves on. The locations where events that captivated a nation unfolded now serve meatballs instead of mysteries, tortellini instead of theories.
I’ll ponder over another red wine…
