New York Mets to honor World Championship 1969 team

The New York Mets will honor their World Championship 1969 team in June.

The franchise will hold the 1969 World Series 50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend during on June 28-30. The Mets host the Atlanta Braves that weekend.

On June 28, the team will give fans a 1969 Replica Jersey. On June 29, the team will hold a pregame ceremony. On June 30, the team will give fans a 1969 Replica Ring.

The Mets defeated the Braves 3-0 in the 1969 National League Championship Series. They then knocked off the Baltimore Orioles 4-1 to win their first World Series.

The team played their first season in 1962.
