Views from a sunset cruise in Toronto

TORONTO — It might be easy to forget, Toronto is a harborfront community. But a sunset sail on Lake Ontario provides some spectacular views of the city.

The Wyandot people were probably the first to settle in the area, arriving here before 1000. The first Europeans arrived at the beginning of the 17th century.

Historians believe Toronto’s name stems from the Iroquois word tkaronto, which means “place where trees stand in the water.”

Travel to learn. Pick up something new about the world around you. Maybe it’ll change your perceptions; perhaps it’ll reaffirm them. It can be to some faraway land on the other side of the globe. Maybe it’s the place next door. Just keep moving and exploring. And take a photo to remember the moment.
