The power of Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — There are some places in the world that need few words of introduction because of their sheer awesomeness. Niagara Falls is one of them.

What is called Niagara Falls today is three waterfalls on the United States-Canada border: Horseshoe FallsAmerican Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. People have traveled to the falls for centuries, and today is no different, as millions make the pilgrimage to the falls every year.

Moving past the hordes of tourists, there is something oddly serene and peaceful about the falls, despite its obviously turbulent waters. A place like Niagara Falls offers a great place to reflect.

The best way to experience the falls is not from a barrel going over the falls; it’s from the Maid of the Mist, the famed boats that take tourists to the base of the falls.
