Mercer football opens its fall practice at 8:45 a.m. tomorrow at Five Star Stadium with a helmet-only session.
“It is an exciting time of year with the team reporting to campus to begin preparing for the 2015 season,” said head coach Bobby Lamb. “The core of our team has been in Macon the last five weeks taking summer classes and going through offseason workouts, but we are ready to get the pads on and starting playing football again.”
On Tuesday, 95 student-athletes are expected to report to campus for the Bears’ preseason camp, before convening at the Homer and Ruth Drake Fieldhouse that evening for the season’s initial team meeting.
Mercer’s preseason schedule features 13 practices before the start of fall classes. The Bears open preseason camp with a pair of helmet-only practices and then move to shells (helmets and shoulder pads) on Friday and Saturday.
Mercer holds its first practice in full pads on Aug. 9.
