LaGrange optimistic as it returns 13 starters for 2015

LaGrange is optimistic about its 2015 campaign. After a 5-5 finish in 2014, the Panthers return a total of 13 starters and 55 lettermen.

“We’re really optimistic about the season and have a great group of guys returning,” second year LaGrange head coach Matt Mumme said in a release. “The 2015 season is here and I’m ready to get to work. The USA South is a great conference to play in.”

LaGrange opens its 2015 campaign on Sept. 5 against Birmingham-Southern before traveling to Berry on Sept. 12. LaGrange was selected to finish fourth in the USA South conference, according to a pre-season coaches poll.

The Panthers will be turning to sophomore Connor Blair to replace record-setting quarterback Graham Craig, who graduated. Last season, Blair completed nine of 16 passes for 144 yards, throwing three touchdowns and an interception.

“Graham was a really smart quarterback, so we have some big shoes to fill,” said Mumme. “Connor played in this offense in high school and I think he will do a good job taking over the reins on offense.”
