ATLANTA — The much-anticipated Atlanta streetcar is set to open on Tuesday, Dec. 30, according to a number of media reports.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed earlier this year said streetcars would operate by the end of the year. The project has been fraught with complications, and it looked for a spell as if the streetcars would be operational this year.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the streetcars will operate for free for the first three months. The cost to ride on the 2.7-mile system will increase to $1 after the free period, the newspaper reported.
