CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — Voters in unincorporated Bartow County on Tuesday voted in favor of allowing restaurants to sell alcohol by the drink, The Daily Tribune News reported.
The measure passed by a 4,874 to 2,936 margin, Northwest Georgia News reported. Voters in unincorporated portions of the county also opted for Sunday liquor by the drink sales, which passed by a similar 4,554 to 3,289 margin, according to the report.
“We have three interstate exits that are largely unincorporated areas, and no national chain restaurant or hotel with dining will locate in an area that does not allow distilled spirits by the drink,” the Daily Tribune News previously quoted County Administrator Peter Olson as saying. “Restaurants like LongHorn, Outback, Olive Garden, etc. will not locate in such areas simply because liquor is very profitable for restaurants. If we are ever to see those types of restaurants in the unincorporated areas, we have to have liquor by the drink.”
