SMYRNA, Ga. — The two-day Wings Over Atlanta Air Show wrapped up Sunday afternoon with a performance by the Navy’s Blue Angels.
The free air show, which took place at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, included a number of demonstrations, including the Canadian Snowbirds Demonstration Team.
“I think it’s an amazing display of skill and precision flying,” said one spectator who watched the show from along Atlanta Road in Smyrna. “It’s fascinating to watch and experience.”
More than 100,000 people attended the show, according to a Marietta Daily Journal report. This weekend’s show was the first at Dobbins since 2008.
The 2008 “Wings Over Marietta Air Show” marked the first such show at Dobbins since 2001. It concluded with a performance by the renowned Thunderbirds, a group of F-16 Fighting Falcons that perform breathtaking maneuvers at top speeds.
