Savannah Now: Student charged in terror threat

COMMERCE, Ga. — A Commerce High School freshman, rumored to have a “hit list” of people he wanted to harm, was charged early Thursday morning with making terroristic threats, authorities said.

Investigators learned of the possible plot Wednesday when another high school student called 911 from an off-campus telephone to alert them of the plan, police said.

Late Wednesday night, authorities took a 15-year-old boy, whose name authorities did not release, into custody for questioning as agents continued to investigate overnight.

The boy was booked into the Regional Youth Detention Center in Gainesville, charged as a juvenile with terroristic threats and acts, Commerce police Chief John Gaissert said. He remains in custody.
