For the third straight year, the tiny city of Pendergrass collected the most fines, fees and forfeitures per person of any municipal police department in the state.
In 2005, the city collected $485,011 in revenue from fines, fees and forfeitures, according to the state Department of Community Affairs. That translates into $1,012 for each of the 479 residents in town – the highest per capita rate of any municipal police department in the state, according to DCA statistics.
The distinction marks the third straight year the city of Pendergrass has ranked first. In 2005, the city brought in about $5,000 less than it did in 2004, according to DCA, when the city had $1,024 for each resident in town.
