Georgia Southern knocked off Louisiana-Monroe by a 22-16 on Saturday to complete an 8-0 record in the Sun Belt and claim the conference championship in their season competing at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.
Georgia Southern shredded Georgia State’s defense for 613 rushing yards. The win marked the 300th in program history for Georgia Southern and marked the first-ever match-up with Georgia State in what is sure to become a great in state rivalry.
Georgia State and Georgia Southern will face off on Oct. 25, marking the first time the two programs play. Georgia Southern, starting play in the Sun Belt Conference in 2014, travels to the Georgia Dome for the first-ever showdown.
