The island of Curacao is one of the ABC islands, along with Aruba and Bonaire. While there are plenty of beaches on the island and Curacao is known for its scuba diving, there is much more than just sand and sun on this Caribbean hotspot that is worth exploring.
Noting the island’s “distinct culture,” Condé Nast Traveler magazine selected the Caribbean island of Curaçao as one of the top three “2012 Honeymoon Hot Spots.”
Think of any Caribbean island. The beach is probably the first thought that comes to mind. But the island of Curacao – a member of the ABC islands along with Aruba and Bonaire – is different.
One might not expect to find a large Jewish population in the middle of a Caribbean paradise. But Curacao is home to the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue, the “oldest synagogue building in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere.”
