Overview
Restaurant & Café Gouverneur de Rouville is a restaurant in the Otrobanda district of Willemstad, Curaçao. The property overlooks the Handelskade and occupies a site dating to 1737. The building was associated with Abraham Matthieu de Rouville, governor of the colony from 1866 to 1870, and the restaurant takes its name from Rouvilleweg, the street on which it stands.
The building was put to use as a restaurant in 1989 under the name Rum Runners. It became West Indies in 1997 and was acquired by its current operators in 2001. Following renovations, it reopened as Restaurant & Café Gouverneur de Rouville.
The restaurant serves international dishes and traditional local cuisine with Caribbean influences. Its dining areas include a balcony overlooking the harbor, an interior garden, a private meeting room and a Motown-themed bar. The property is also used for private events, meetings and celebrations.
