DeKalb County, Georgia, officials said they are working to ensure readiness and response.
This includes reviewing department plans, verifying continuity of operations and conducting assessments on infrastructure throughout the county.
On Monday, the Roads and Drainage Division began preparing generators, vehicles, heavy equipment, chainsaws, pumps, and other equipment to respond to the storm.
Road crews are all working today on flood-prone streets, clearing debris from catch basins and low-lying areas.
The Community Development Department is working with Frontline Response and other local community partners to ensure that the unhoused population knows available shelter during the storm.
DeKalb citizens and stakeholders are encouraged to sign up for CodeRED, a system used to call, email or text in the event of an emergency or severe weather warning. Notifications are based on the location registered in the system. All information is kept private.

DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency encourages residents to be prepared and stay informed. Rely on information from official sources, such as the National Weather Service, National Hurricane Center, local and state emergency management and local media.
All citizens should have a basic emergency preparedness kit and plan for each family member, including pets, children, elderly or other unique needs. These plans should anticipate power outages, flooding and sheltering in place.
