Georgians made progress in the fight for a pro-civil liberties majority in the Georgia Legislature, the ACLU of Georgia.
By electing two pro-reproductive rights legislators to the General Assembly, the people of Georgia have taken a powerful stand against the state’s draconian abortion restrictions, the group said.
“Our communities have sent a clear message: Georgians demand leaders who will fight for reproductive justice and challenge harmful policies that hurt women,” Andrea Young, executive director of the ACLU of Georgia, said in an announcement. “Every minute this ban remains in effect, Georgians suffer, but with pro-civil liberties allies in the General Assembly, we have renewed strength in this fight.”
This is the result of a $300,000 electoral program paid for by the ACLU Voter Education Fund.
