House Bill 303, the Original 33 Memorial Act, would allow for a monument, subject to the availability of private funds, honoring the Original 33, the Black legislators expelled from the General Assembly after the end of Reconstruction, to be placed on State Capitol grounds or in another prominent place.

These men were some of the first Black state legislators in the United States. In September 1868, the Original 33 were expelled from the Georgia General Assembly.
On Feb. 28, 2025, the Georgia House of Representatives voted 167-0 in favor of the bill.
