I’m mulling my recent escapades, trying to put everything into perspective — there were some unique, some historic and some downright weird attractions.
In an official letter dated July 21, 2009, Rep. David Scott called Obama “President-elect.” Huh? Guess he didn’t read that either. I first called Rep. Scott’s office in February to inquire whether he read the bailout bill before casting a vote in favor of the legislation. No response. I called again about the “cap and tax” bill. I called last Thursday, July 16, and again asked whether the Congressman read the bailout bill before voting.
The winner of the popular vote in any presidential election isn’t automatically the next president. As was the case in the 2000 election, it’s the Electoral College vote that counts.
History likely will remember Gerald Ford as the president who pardoned Richard Nixon. But, Ford’s greatest accomplishment may be one he attained long before reaching the White House: He made the rank of Eagle Scout.
