Overview
Grapevine Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Grapevine, Texas, established on land associated with brothers Samuel D. Coble and Allen B. Coble, who settled in the area during the 1850s. In 1878, the brothers sold 4.5 acres at the site for use as a public cemetery.
The oldest known burial is that of Louisa C. Guiry, who died in 1860 at age 22. The cemetery contains the graves of several early settlers and civic leaders, including Barton H. Starr, elected Grapevine’s first mayor in 1907, and James Tracy Morehead, who served as the second judge of Tarrant County. Additional land south of the original cemetery tract was acquired in 1925.
