Smyrna Library, Museum mark America’s 250th with political memorabilia exhibit

SMYRNA, Georgia — The Smyrna Public Library and Smyrna Museum are marking America’s 250th anniversary with an exhibit of American political campaign memorabilia.

The exhibit, on display in the upper-level cases at Smyrna Public Library through the end of June, features whimsical, amusing and historic artifacts from U.S. political campaigns. The items are on loan from the personal collection of Smyrna City Councilman Travis Lindley.

Lindley began collecting political memorabilia as a teenager and said his interest in politics and Americana grew during the 1992 election. His collection now includes nearly 4,000 pieces.

The exhibit was curated by Smyrna Museum Manager Jennie Eldredge and offers a look at campaign history as the country prepares to mark 250 years on July 4.

Smyrna Public Library is located at 100 Village Green Circle in downtown Smyrna.
