South Carolina Republicans tout solid election

South Carolina Republicans had a good night at the state level on Tuesday, holding a supermajority in the state House and picking up one seat.

It also picked up a supermajority in the Senate, flipping four seats. The GOP also gained 13 county council seats and other local down-ballot flips.

“Wins like this don’t just happen by themselves,” SCGOP Chairman Drew McKissick said in a statement. “They happen when you have an enthusiastic and energized base of support. Our volunteers, grassroots activists, voters, and State Party Staff had the kind of enthusiasm that you can’t put a price tag on, and the Democrats simply couldn’t compete with.”
