Delta plane aborts takeoff at Atlanta airport, passengers evacuated

ATLANTA — A Delta Airlines plane aborted takeoff at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday morning, injuring four people and forcing an evacuation of the plane.

The plane, which was heading for Minneapolis-St. Paul aborted its takeoff around 9:10 a.m. Fox 5 in Atlanta reported the plane had an engine problem.

In a statement, airport officials said passengers used emergency slides to exit the plane. Four passengers sustained minor injuries, and one was taken to a hospital for further evaluation; the others were treated on-site.

According to the statement, flight operations were experiencing delays following the mishap. Airport officials said they expected the plane and runway to be cleared soon.
