Donald J. Trump and JD Vance were sworn into office as the 47th president and 50th vice president of the United States during the 60th presidential inauguration.

“The golden age of America begins right now,” Trump proclaimed in his second inaugural address, calling today “Liberation Day.” “…From this moment on, America’s decline is over.”

Speaking of July’s failed assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, the president said, “I was saved by God to make America great again.”

Trump, who served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021, completed the most improbable political comeback, taking the oath of office today as the republic’s 47th president. The Republican is the second commander-in-chief to serve nonconsecutive terms.

Democrat Grover Cleveland was the first, serving as the 22nd president from 1885 until 1889 and the 24th president from 1893 to 1897.

“The mandate from November 5th is now forever sealed into history as President Trump and Vice President Vance are sworn into office,” South Carolina GOP Chairman Drew McKissick said in a statement.

“This moment stands as a powerful reminder of what Republicans can achieve when we rally together around our shared values and the strength of our Party,” SCGOP Chairman McKissick stated,” McKissick added. “Starting now, America begins a new chapter with a President determined to realize our nation’s potential and Make America Great Again!”
