American Airlines is rolling out enhanced boarding technology to over 100 U.S. airports after successful trials.
The airline contends that the new platform offers improved visibility for staff and aims to make the boarding process smoother for customers and team members.
The airline said the system ensures passengers board in their assigned groups and alerts gate agents if customers attempt to board prematurely. Agents can override the alert for special cases, including companions in earlier groups.
The airline said it trialed the technology at Albuquerque International Sunport in New Mexico, Reagan National Airport in Virginia and Tucson International Airport in Arizona.
