On September 12, 2023, Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp declared a state of emergency, citing 40-year-high inflation and negative economic conditions felt by hardworking Georgians due to policies coming out of Washington, D.C.
As part of this declaration, the governor temporarily suspended the state’s excise tax on motor and locomotive fuel to provide direct relief to families throughout the state. The executive order will go into effect on Wednesday, September 13 at 12:00 a.m. and remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on October 12, 2023.
