ATLANTA – State Representative Mike Cameron (R-Rossville) commends Governor Brian Kemp for his recent announcement to issue a statewide tax refund of more than $1 billion to Georgians during the upcoming tax season. Rep. Cameron joined Gov. Kemp, House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) and other legislators at the Capitol for this announcement.
“Governor Kemp’s announcement today serves as a strong testament to our commitment to the hardworking people of Georgia, and I commend him, House Speaker Jon Burns and my fellow Republican colleagues for prioritizing the needs of Georgia taxpayers,” said Rep. Cameron. “This initiative would put more than $1 billion directly back into the hands of our citizens, reinforcing our belief that government should not hold onto more of your money than necessary. Since taking office in 2019, Governor Kemp has enacted more than $6.6 billion in tax cuts and refunds, and this is just another step to ensuring that Georgians keep more of what they earn. I am proud to support fiscally conservative policies that empower families across our state and continue to drive our economy forward.”
This proposal would allow residents to receive a maximum income tax refund of $250 for individuals, $375 for heads of households and $500 for married couples filing jointly, all based on their earnings from 2023.
