Officials in Rome are considering charging visitors 2 euros to visit the famed Trevi Fountain, according to various reports.
Alessandro Onorato, the city’s top tourism official, put forward the proposal. It follows the controversial 5-euro daytripper access fee tested in Venice this summer.
While the City Council must deliberate on this proposal before it takes effect, Mayor Roberto Gualtieri has expressed support for the proposal, the Associated Press reported.
