Officials in Rome are considering charging visitors 2 euros to visit the famed Trevi Fountain, according to various reports.
Alessandro Onorato, the city’s top tourism official, put forward the proposal. It follows the controversial 5-euro daytripper access fee tested in Venice this summer.
While the City Council must deliberate on this proposal before it takes effect, Mayor Roberto Gualtieri has expressed support for the proposal, the Associated Press reported.
Sightseers’ Delight started publishing in June 2016. The site, published by The DeFeo Groupe, collects and curates content about places where historical events large and small happened. The site builds off the legacy of The Travel Trolley, which launched in June 2009. The site aimed to be a virtual version of the trolley tours offered in so many cities.
