Southwest Airlines plans to reduce its service in Atlanta next year, CNBC reported.
The company plans to cut more than 300 pilot and flight attendant positions as part of the move, CNBC reported, citing a company memo.
Southwest is poised to hold its investor day on Thursday. According to the CNBC report, Southwest executives will detail their plans to cut costs and grow revenue amid increasing pressure from activist investor Elliott Investment Management.
Southwest has informed its staff that it will not close its Atlanta crew base but plans to reduce up to 200 flight attendants and up to 140 pilots. The airline is not laying off the crews, but they will likely need to bid to work from other cities.
