Magic Kingdom’s new Tron coaster won’t open for the park’s 50th

A new E-Ticket attraction at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will not open for the park’s 50th anniversary, according to a report.

The new TRON Lightcycle / Run was touted as an addition to the park for its 50th anniversary. However, USA Today reported the attraction, under construction next to the venerable Space Mountain, “isn’t expected to open during the park’s 50th birthday year.”

The Magic Kingdom opened on Oct. 1, 1971.

It was not immediately clear when the attraction, which features motorbike-styled vehicles, might open. A version of the attraction opened at Shanghai Disneyland Park in June 2016.

Walt Disney World is operating with reduced attendance amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Its Disneyland park in California remains closed.

Park officials have also closed the popular Walt Disney World Railroad for two years because of construction.
