Smyrna police arrest two following shooting

Smyrna, Ga., police have arrested two men following a shooting at a restaurant near the new Atlanta Braves stadium.

The shooting happened during what was supposed to be a meetup following an online purchase. According to a police news release:

On May 8, 2017, at 1:51 pm, the Smyrna Police Department began a homicide investigation that occurred at 2999 Cumberland Boulevard (Carrabba’s Italian Grill Restaurant).

On May 10, 2017, members of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Southeast Regional Marshals Task Force took Vincent Diandrez Brooks (02/03/1995) of Jonesboro, GA and Damien Akeen Scott (02/01/1995) of Decatur, GA into custody.

Smyrna Police investigators and a Dunwoody Police crime analyst were able to identity the two suspects by conducting a comprehensive and relentless investigation, following up on solid leads, and a critical analysis of the evidence from the scene.

• Damien Akeem Scott is charged with: Homicide-Murder and Aggravated Assault (Warrant # 17W4313)

• Vincent Diandrez Brooks is charged with: Homicide-Murder and Aggravated Assault (Warrant # 17W4273) being a party to a crime

Upon completing interviews with Smyrna police investigators, Scott and Brooks, will be transferred to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center for further processing.

The above case is still an active investigation and no further information is available at this time.
