ATLANTA — Republicans in the state Senate today announced cutting red tape, protecting Georgians against terrorism, enhancing workforce development, charting a regional transportation framework, increasing access to care and maximizing funding for Pre-K and HOPE as the key elements of the 2017 Republican Caucus legislative agenda.
Lt. Governor Casey Cagle; Senate Majority Leader Bill Cowsert, R-Athens; Senate President Pro Tempore David Shafer, R-Duluth; Sen. Renee Unterman, R-Buford; and other leaders unveiled the agenda during a press conference today at the State Capitol.
“Georgia continues to propel toward realizing a new wave of economic expansion that will be felt in every corner of our state,” Cagle said in a news release. “The Senate Majority Caucus is united in upholding our core principles of effective, conservative governance. This session, I am confident that we will be successful in modernizing our government by enacting innovative policies to reduce the burden on small business owners, increase the quality and affordability of our health care system, and improve the quality of life for all Georgians. We will deliver impactful reforms and begin this legislative session with the finish line in mind.”
The 2017 Georgia General Assembly convenes on Jan. 9.
